GREENVILLE Maine game wardens and dozens of volunteers searched Tuesday for a 58-year-old Waterville man whose car was found abandoned along a logging road near Rockwood west of Moosehead Lake.
Raymond Thurber's car, which has a Florida license plate, was found Monday along a logging road west of Routes 6 and 15, Maine Warden Service spokesman Mark Latti said. The car broke down and was later discovered by a forest ranger, Latti said.
Wardens searched by foot and from the air Monday for Thurber. Dog teams were called out to search through the night and a helicopter was to join the search Tuesday after fog lifted. Forty people, including wardens and volunteers, were also searching for Thurber on Tuesday, Latti said.
Thurber was last seen at about 9:30 Sunday night in Sangerville.
