SOUTH PORTLAND — Maine's Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, Jean Hay Bright, welcomes Ohio congressman Dennis Kucinich on Monday to support her campaign against Republican incumbent Olympia Snowe.

Hay Bright, of Dixmont, won the Democratic nomination in June by defeating Eric Mehnert of Orono in a primary election.

Snowe was unopposed on the Republican side.

Hay Bright, an organic farmer and author, ran unsuccessfully for the House in 1994 and for the Senate two years later.

She worked as a volunteer in the 2004 presidential campaign mounted by Kucinich.
