Recent Updates
Mainers who dreamed of a white Christmas were disappointed by the lack of snow and cold. The good news is that the relatively mild weather contributed to stable heating oil prices across the state.
The state's weekly survey showed that the current average price for No. 2 heating oil remained unchanged since last week at $2.31 per gallon. That's about a penny less than at the same time last year.
As usual, prices varied across the state, ranging from as low as $1.96 in southwestern Maine to $2.43 in eastern and central regions.
Maine's Office of Energy Independence and Security said New England heating oil inventories stand at 10,665 million barrels. That's about 1,200 barrels more than last year at this time.
