Oakland body update

By Morning Sentinel Staff Report March 07, 2007 06:08 PM

OAKLAND — The body of a man said to be in his 50s or 60s was found slumped in the snow against the base of a business sign Wednesday afternoon in Pine Acres Business Park, off Kennedy Memorial Drive.

Rick Haskins, owner of R.N. Haskins Printing Co., said he looked out his office window and spotted what appeared at first to be a duffle bag under his company sign.

“I just happened to be standing by this window at noontime, looking out — I happened to glance down on the right hand side of that brick base — I could just see a small patch of material,” Haskins said. “Something just didn’t look right, it looked like a duffle bag.”

He said he dialed 911. The call came in at 12:14 p.m.

Haskins said the mna was dressed in a short-waisted jacket, not fit for the current weather. he had on blue jeans and what looked like a blue jean type shirt.

“He wasn’t dressed for this kind of weather, that’s for sure,” he said.
