AUGUSTA — An estimated 170 members of the Maine Army National Guard’s Security Force are expected to arrive in Bangor on Friday from Fort Dix, N.J.

The unit, recently returned from a year’s duty in Iraq, will be bused to army support facilities at Bangor International Airport, according to Capt. Shanon Cotta of the Camp Keyes public affairs office in Augusta.

The troops are expected to arrive in Bangor around 4-5:30 p.m., he said, and after a formal dismissal, they are free to greet their families and loved ones waiting to meet them.

The dismissal ceremony is set at Hangar C on Hayes Street, and the public is welcome.

Cotta said the unit must return Saturday for final clearance, and will then have at least 30 days’ leave.
