By Morning Sentinel Staff Report March 13, 2007 09:43 AM

SIDNEY — A fire in a bedroom caused a family to briefly evacuate their home on Birch Circle at 12:15 a.m. today.

An 14-year-old boy admitted to setting the fire, according to Sidney Assistant Fire Chief Bob Bacon. The boy and his father were transported to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. The father had suffered from smoke inhalation.

The father was able to contain and squelch the fire before it spread to the rest of the house, and the remaining two family members were able to return to their own beds, Bacon said. Belgrade Fire Department also sent firefighters to the scene.
