Due to poor traveling, the Readfield Town Office will open today at 10 a.m.
Augusta Police said roads in the Augusta area are very slippery, but reported very few accidents as commuters hit the roads. Many vehicles, however, are off the road or stuck, police said.
An Augusta Public Works spokesman said all crews are out plowing and sanding main roads.
Also in Augusta, the city's Public Works postponed today's rubbish pickup. It will be picked up Monday, April 9, curbside by 7 a.m. Today's recycling has been canceled, the next pickup will be on a regular scheduled day in May.
Maine National History Day, originally scheduled for today at the Buker School on Armory Street in Augusta, has been postponed. The annual event for teachers and students will now be held Tuesday, April 24.
A joint meeting of Fayette selectmen, school and budget committee members scheduled for tonight has been postponed to Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Fayette Central School.
