Rumsey to take deputy police chief spot

WATERVILLE — Police Sgt. Charles J. Rumsey IV will become the new deputy police chief July 1.

The announcement on Tuesday came from the current deputy chief, Joseph P. Massey, who will become chief July 1 after Chief John E. Morris leaves his post.

Rumsey, 36, has been with the department since 1995, starting as a patrol officer and working his way up to detective and then sergeant.
