Wal-Mart suspect charged again

By Kennebec Journal Staff Report May 30, 2007 04:35 PM

A man arrested in Biddeford after apparently trying for a second time to get police to shoot him will return to jail in Kennebec County.

A judge granted a request by District Attorney Evert Fowle to return Phillip M. Urquhart, 42, of Windham to Kennebec County. Fowle said Urquhart's flight from police Monday night in York County violated conditions of his bail.

Urquhart was released from the Augusta jail May 10 after his wife put up their home as surety for the $100,000 bail.

Fowle's request said Urquhart committed new criminal conduct, possessed a dangerous weapon — a utility knife— and violated a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

Urquhart had been held in Kennebec County on charges of terrorizing and criminal mischief, both involving a firearm, after brandishing two loaded handguns at the Wal-Mart SuperCenter in Augusta on April 20.

Authorities say he wanted police to shoot him. Urquhart now faces new charges in York County.
