Momentum builds against town manager

By Morning Sentinel Staff Report June 04, 2007 05:35 PM

SKOWHEGAN — Signatures on petitions calling for the removal of Skowhegan’s town manager tripled since Friday, according to Selectman Cyprien Johnson.

Johnson said petition sheets at three locations carry the names of 153 people who say they have lost confidence in Town Manager Philip M. Tarr.

“And from what I have been told, there are more papers out there. I don’t know who is responsible for turning them in, ” said Johnson, who has said he is willing to turn the petitions over to the board for their consideration once they all are in.

Johnson said he did not want to comment further until he has a chance to discuss the matter with the entire board.

“I don’t know what it entails at this point,” Johnson said.
