SACO — Paving, guardrail and drainage work at Maine Turnpike exit 36 in Saco will begin Sunday evening, resulting in some evening and night ramp closures, turnpike officials said.
Starting Sunday, a series of ramp closures are scheduled to take place, all during the time period of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The scheduled days and locations of the closures are as follows: Sunday, northbound entrance ramp; Monday, southbound entrance ramp; Tuesday and Wednesday, northbound exit ramp; and Thursday, northbound entrance ramp.
Work for this project will go on for five to six weeks. All work will take place in the evening or at night to avoid peak commuter hours and give the contractor adequate time to finish the job.
After June 21, night work won’t start before 10 p.m. to reduce congestion as summer traffic increases. However, the schedule could change due to weather conditions or other unanticipated events.
Tune to 1610AM for more information about the closures or check the turnpike’s Web site: www.maineturnpike.com.
