Tex Tech worker injured

By Kennebec Journal Staff Report June 12, 2007 05:27 PM

An employee at Tex Tech Industries in North Monmouth suffered a hand injury this morning, and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, officials said.

George Adams apparently was at work when the incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m., and Monmouth Police confirmed that he was taken by ambulance to the hospital. A spokesman at the medical center was unable to provide a report on Adams' condition this afternoon.

Tex Tech employs about 345 people at its North Monmouth plant, originally a 19th century woolen blanket mill. The firm now manufactures sophisticated felts for the aerospace industry and other applications, including felt for tennis balls. A global firm, Tex Tech's headquarters are in Portland, according to its Web site.
