AUGUSTA — The Maine Senate today voted 26-9 in support of a bill that
would extend legislative term limits from eight consecutive years to 12
consecutive years.
The bill, Legislative Document 1928, states that the extension would not
apply to any member of the Legislature currently in his or her eighth
consecutive year of service. It would also require voter approval.
The bill now heads to the House for consideration.
