AUGUSTA – Gov. John Baldacci has ordered flags throughout the state flown at half staff Tuesday in memory of the latest Maine soldier killed in Iraq.

Baldacci directed that flags be flown at half staff from sunrise to sunset in "remembrance and honor" of Sgt. Richard K. Parker of Phillips, Baldacci said in a statement.

Parker was serving as a member of A Company, 1-121st Field Artillery Battalion, Security Force II, Maine Army National Guard, when he was killed in action June 13 in Iraq by a roadside bomb.

His funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at Mt Abram Regional High School on State Route 142 in Salem Township.
