AUGUSTA — Individuals and institutions who donated to the new Alfond Center for Cancer Care continue to be recognized today in a series of ceremonies at the new center on Old Belgrade Road.

Elsie Viles was to be lauded for the generosity of the William and Elsie Viles Foundation, which donated the money for the extensive "healing garden" was honored this morning. Others to be recognized today are Maine Drilling & Blasting, the Shumans and Mark Johnston and Kennebec Savings Bank.

The center, operated by MaineGeneral Medical Center, is to open in July.
