PALERMO — A 45-year-old Palermo man died Sunday night after the all-terrain vehicle he was riding rolled on top of him.

According to the Maine Warden Service, Albert B. Foss, 45, was riding with two others on Log Cabin Lane off Hostile Valley Road in Palermo.

When they got to the end of the road, the other riders realized Foss was no longer with them and retraced their route, finding Foss under his ATV.

Foss, who was not wearing a helmet, had survived an ATV accident a few years ago and had screws and rods in a leg, according to the warden’s report.

The accident was investigated by Warden Mark Merrifield.

The accident was similar to one that killed a China woman in June.

Aliza Mason, 29, of China died June 10 at a Lewiston hospital after suffering head injuries when her ATV overturned on her near the end of Crommett Road.

She also was not wearing a helmet.
