PORTLAND
Mercy Hospital announced today that about 100 Greater Portland businesses have pledged more than $1.2 million toward the new facility being built along the Fore River.

The contributions bring the amount raised by Mercy's fund-raising campaign to $14.8 million. The balance of funds raised has come from individual community members, foundations and hospital employees, according to the hospital.

Mercy plans to move many of its services from its State Street location to the new facility starting in the fall 2008. They include: outpatient services, women's health and birthing center.

It will move the remainder of its services, such as cardiology and emergency medicine, to another building scheduled to open in 2012.
