Libby leads early at Maine Amateur

OAKLAND -- Lance Libby of Sidney birdied the 18th hole to take a one-shot lead early in the first round of the Maine Amateur Championship at the Waterville Country Club on Tuesday morning.
Libby, a Messalonskee High School and Husson College graduate, shot a 1-under par 69 and was the leader in the clubhouse after 10 groups of golfers had finished their opening rounds.
Manchester's Mark Plummer, a 13-time Maine Amateur Champion, Eric Higgins and Joe Alavarez are tied for second at 70.
