WATERVILLE — The community on Wednesday was mourning the death of former city Councilor Loreen Colfin West, a longtime resident who was active in city politics and the Republican party.

West, 59, was found dead in her Quarry Road apartment late Tuesday afternoon, according to a police report. Friends called police after said she did not show up for work Tuesday at D.H. Pinnette & Sons, Inc. Maine Roofing Co. on Rice Rips Road.
