PORTLAND — The four official Democratic candidates for southern Maine's seat in Congress have reported their fund-raising totals for April through June.
Chellie Pingree, a former state senator from North Haven, leads the pack with $229,883 raised. York County District Attorney Mark Lawrence brought in $170,990. Adam Cote, a lawyer who served as a National Guardsman in the Iraq War, raised $113,247. And Michael Brennan, a former state senator from Portland, collected $63,047.
Two other potential candidates in the Democratic primary, state Sen. Ethan Strimling and Portland City Councilor Jill Duson, did not report contributions because have not officially entered the race.
On the Republican side, the only candidate who filed a disclosure report with the Federal Election Commission by Sunday's deadline was Charlie Summers, a former regional administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration. Summers reported contributions of $2,850.
Dean Scontras, an Eliot businessman, did not file because he entered the race after the April-June reporting period ended. Also considering runs on the Republican side are Steve Abbott, who is chief of staff for Sen. Susan Collins, and state Sen. Jonathan Courtney of Sanford.
