Farmingdale public hearing set

By Kennebec Journal Staff Report August 01, 2007 10:57 AM

FARMINGDALE —A public hearing is set for 7 p.m. on Aug. 15 at Hall-Dale High School to discuss two referendum questions pertaining to recently closed 1st Amendment Adult Book & Video store.

Residents will vote on the issues at a special town meeting in September.

They will be asked whether to repeal the town's Sexually Oriented Business Ordinance or amend the ordinance to allow the Maine Avenue adult bookstore to continue to operate without complying with licence and location requirements.

The store closed on June 12 after failing to comply with the new local following a five-year grace period.
