Woman hit by lightning, wedding tent blown away in storm

By Central Maine Newspapers August 03, 2007 04:08 PM

SKOWHEGAN — Friday’s late-afternoon thunderstorms felled trees in Somerset County, some blocking traffic on U.S. Route 201 in Madison, two miles north of Lakewood Theater, according to Somerset County Sheriff’s dispatching messages.

A woman standing near an electric fence in Cornville was struck by lightning, but not seriously injured.

Another tree fell on a vehicle with a person inside. There were no details on injuries.

The wind blew a wedding tent off its moorings and caused it to blow back and forth across U.S. 201, according to another report.
