DOVER-FOXCROFT — An 11-year-old boy drowned at a public beach at Sebec Lake, officials ruled Tuesday.

The state medical examiner's office performed an autopsy on the body of Maurice Mahar of Atkinson, who was found in shallow water about 6 p.m. Monday.

The boy was pulled from the water and taken to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, where he was pronounced dead about two hours later, police said.
