Augusta falls in Babe Ruth opener

ANDALUSIA, Ala. — Despite a strong comeback, the Augusta 13-15 year old
Babe Ruth All-Stars fell to Punahou, Hawaii, 10-7 on Friday afternoon in
the opening game of the Babe Ruth World Series.

Hawaii scored four runs in the top of the first inning, and Augusta trailed
6-1 before rallying to tie the game at 7-7 with six runs in the bottom of
the fourth. The big hit was a two-run single by T.J. Vallee.

Hawaii reclaimed the lead with a run in the top of the fifth inning, then
added two more runs in the sixth. Hawaii pounded out 14 hits to Augusta's
six.

Augusta has Saturday off, and will play Nederland, Texas at 8 p.m. Sunday.
