By Giselle Goodman September 04, 2007 10:03 AM

Kathy Powers, 41, of Lincoln, faces charges of driving to endanger, failing to stop for a police officer and eluding an officer, after leading Auburn police on a chase that ended in a tremendous crash.

Lewiston police began pursuing Powers at around 4 a.m. today after she failed to pull over for an officer. She led police on a chase into Auburn, where police there set up a spike mat on Route 4.

After running over the mat, Powers continued to flee until her car drove off the road and crashed into seven vehicles, mostly SUVs, on the Emerson Chevrolet Buick car lot at 946 Center St.

The car in which Powers was traveling was on fire when police arrived around 6 a.m. and Powers was sent to the hospital with injuries including broken bones.

The cars were all destroyed in the crash.
