Portland City Council sets vote on pier project

By Portland Press Herald Staff Report September 04, 2007 03:01 PM

The Portland City Council will vote Sept. 17 on how to proceed with the redevelopment of the Maine State Pier.

The council will take up two competing orders. Councilor Jim Cloutier and the Community Development Committee have sponsored an order that the city enter negotiations with Ocean Properties.

Councilor David Marshall has sponsored an order that the council enter negotiations with the Olympia Companies.

The two companies have proposed building a hotel and an office building on the seven-acre Maine State Pier site.
