FREEPORT — The Freeport Community Library is holding a 10th anniversary party that will start this evening with a talk by a Maine mystery writer, and finish with a family fun day and benefit concert tomorrow.
The library moved in 1997 from the old B.H. Bartol Library building in the heart of the town’s shopping district to a spacious new building just north of the downtown. Beth Edmonds, library director, said moving to a new location has helped the library better serve patrons, including town visitors who make use of its internet services and senior citizens, who find it more accessible.
Tonight, crime writer Kate Flora will be the keynote speaker at a reception from 6-8 p.m.
The family fun day will run from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. tomorrow, with children’s activities and workshops throughout the day. There also will be live music and story reading.
At 8 p.m. tomorrow, a benefit concert featuring Maine folk singer Dave Mallett will be held at Freeport High School. For more information, go to the town of Freeport’s Web site: www.freeportmaine.com or call the library at 865-3307.
