A Maine man was treated to a rare honor last night, receiving an award that is considered a milestone for those serving in the Civil Air Patrol.
Gov. John Baldacci presented the Amelia Earhart Award to Cadet Capt. Christopher Slininger at a ceremony in Bangor last night. Slininger is in the Civil Air Patrol, 35th Maine Wing Composite Squadron, Bangor.
Cadets earning the award must complete the first 11 segments of the program and pass a 100-question exam on aerospace topics, leadership theory and other topics. The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Visit the Civil Air Patrol Website to learn more about the award and the cadet program.
