The University of New England is set to begin building a new $6 million biomedical research facility at its Biddeford campus.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the Pickus Center for Biomedical Research is set for Sunday at 10 a.m.
The new 22,000-square-foot building will be UNE's first facility dedicated exclusively to medical research. UNE officials say it will allow the school's faculty to advance medical frontiers and give students greater opportunities to include research as part of their medical educations.
The building will be located across the street from the Harold Alfond Center for the Life Sciences, which houses the school's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
