PORTLAND — A former Yarmouth resident was sentenced in U.S. District Court today to more than four years in prison on a firearms charge.
Stephen Versluis, 24, who is now a Florida resident, pleaded guilty to possession of stolen firearms. Judge D. Brock Hornby imposed a sentence of 57 months and ordered Versluis to pay $3,619 in restitution.
According to the prosecution, Versluis stole nine firearms from a residence in Yarmouth and sold or gave away the guns. Federal agents recovered some from unknowing purchasers in locations including Washington, Oregon, Texas, Florida and Colorado.
