Marijuana cache booby trapped

By Morning Sentinel Staff Report October 13, 2007 02:16 PM

CANAAN — A Canaan man was arrested Friday after police confiscated 67 high-grade marijuana plants and other drug paraphernalia in his Browns Corner Road home.

Lauriston Cochran, 43, was charged with trafficking in a Schedule Z drug, cultivation of marijuana and reckless conduct- for booby traps in the area.

The marijuana plants were being grown in two separate indoor “groom” rooms, inside the residence and in a barn, according to Somerset County Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Carl E. Gottardi II.

“The main grow room area was booby trapped with electric wires, spikes, razor blades and sharp metal pieces to deter or prevent (people) from entering the grow room area,” Gottardi said.
