The Sagadahoc County Office of Emergency Management Agency, as well as several surrounding-area police, fire, and sheriff agencies conducted a full-scale WMD/Hazmat terrorist exercise this morning at the Richmond Department of Transportation on Route 138.

The exercise, an annual procedure, was performed in conjunction with the MidCoast and Parkview Hospitals, the MidCoast Hazmat team, and the Boy Scouts of America Troop 21 from Bath.

Another command post involved in the exercise was established at the Hornbeck Airstrip on Route 201 in Bowdoinham. The objective was to see how multiple teams to could respond and communicate to two simultaneous crises.

Several road blocks were put up around both scenes during the exercise; traffic is has since returned to normal in both areas by 1 p.m. this afternoon.
