The Portland City Council recognized public works employees Andre Provencher and Bruce Warner on Monday night for winning big at this year's National Snow and Ice Plow Rodeo in Estes Park, Colo.

The two-man team won third place in the single-axle snow plow division, which included 43 teams, according to the proclamation read by Mayor Nicholas Mavodones Jr.

Provencher and Warner were invited to participate in the national competition after winning the top title in Maine's annual state highway competition in Skowhegan in June.

The national competition was held in September and sponsored by American Public Works Association.
