The Portland School Committee will consider resurrecting its personnel subcommittee in the wake of growing employee concerns in recent months.

The committee will hold a workshop on the issue at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room 250, Portland Arts and Technology High School, off Allen Avenue.

The committee hasn't had a personnel subcommittee for quite some time, said John Coyne, committee chairman. The committee has finance and policy subcommittees.

Coyne said a personnel subcommittee would have been helpful when the committee faced the recent resignation of the district's finance director and superintendent and the review of a new teacher's contract that's expected to exceed budgeted revenue this year.

The committee also will discuss the Unity Project from the Center for Prevention of Hate Violence.

The finance subcommittees of the School Committee and City Council are scheduled to meet 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 321 at PATHS.
