Pit owners: Can we dig it?

AUGUSTA — The Augusta Planning Board meets tonight to hold public hearings on five mineral extraction license applications for local sand and gravel pits.

The mineral extraction licenses to be discussed include permits for: Pits on Sanford Road and West River Road operated by Harold Warren Construction; two pits on Washington Street operated by Scott and Angela Lyon; and a Burns Road pit operated by Eugene L. Dube.

A public hearing is also planned tonight on Quirion Construction's proposal to amend the license of its West River Road pit.

The Augusta Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. at City Center.
