Wind hampers firefighting efforts

TEMPLE - A forest fire in the woods around a camp road off of Varnum Pond Road burned one building and spread into the woods Tuesday evening.

Hampering the operation was a strong wind, a nearby residents said.

Fire departments from about 10 area departments and the Maine Forest Servcie were called out to assist Temple firefighters battle the 7:30 p.m. blaze. Varnum Pond is the water supply for the town of Wilton.
