Hallowell police are investigating a break-in at a Hallowell church, which was believed to have happened Sunday.
Police were called to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 20 Union St., at 7:30 a.m. after church officials discovered someone used force to break into the church.
Police said nothing was immediately reported as missing, though there were signs of criminal mischief, including force to open the church and evidence that the people had tried to break into other rooms.
“There was no other damage besides broken doors and things of that nature,” a Hallowell police officer said this morning.
No one from the church was immediately available for comment.
