WASHINGTON D.C. – The U.S. Department of Labor has approved $894,918 in National Emergency Grant funding to help 300 Domtar and Fraser Mill workers who lost their jobs at the Baileyville and Madawaska plants.
“This is great news for 300 workers in Northern and Eastern Maine who lost their jobs through no fault of their own,” said Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in announcing the funding. “The National Emergency Grant funding will provide these hardworking Mainers with the vital resources they need to provide for their families during this difficult time.”
The NEG funding will be used to support reemployment efforts, including recruitment, outreach, assessment, job skills transferability analysis, case management, business outreach and job development and placement.
