The incoming Cape Elizabeth Town Council met in a caucus Thursday evening and nominated Mary Ann Lynch to serve as town council chairman for 2008 and Jim Rowe to serve as finance committee chairman. The positions will be confirmed Dec. 12 at the town council meeting..

Mary Ann Lynch replaces Paul McKenney, who along with Lynch was re-elected to the town council on Tuesday. Lynch also served as town council chairman in 2003-2004. She was first elected to the town council in May 2001.

Jim Rowe just completed his first year on the town council after previous service on the Cape Elizabeth School Board from 1999 to 2002.

Outgoing Chairman McKenney also serves as president of the Greater Portland Council of Governments. Councilor Anne Swift-Kayatta will serve in 2008 as president of the Maine Municipal Association.
