Gas prices continue to top $3 in Maine, and now the national average is catching up.
The AAA and the Oil Price Information Service says the national average retail price of regular gas has reached $3.11 a gallon. In Maine, the average price is a few cents higher at $3.14, which is more than 30 cents higher than just a month ago.
The only New England state that's higher than Maine is Connecticut, at $3.21 a gallon.
In neighboring New Hampshire, the average price increased by a little over 1 cent overnight, topping $3 a gallon for the first time. That makes Massachusetts the only state where the average remains below $3 per gallon.
