Heating oil spill in Fairfield

By Morning Sentinel Staff Report November 26, 2007 02:48 PM

FAIRFIELD — A specialist from the state Department of Environmental Protection is investigating a spill of home heating oil from a tank at a private home on the Pung Hill section of Route 104.

Fairfield Fire Chief Duane Bickford estimated 200-250 gallons of oil had seeped into the ground and into a nearby drainage ditch since Thursday.

The oil was seen Monday in drainage ditch water all the way down Pung Hill toward Fish Brook near Center Road.
