Police chief plans cold, wet fundraiser

By Portland Press Herald Staff Report December 03, 2007 04:06 PM

WESTBROOK — Police Chief William Baker will lead a raft full of officials over Saccarappa Falls this weekend to raise funds for Mission Possible Teen Center.

Baker, a licensed white water guide, will take the group of undisclosed “mystery guests” over the 16-foot falls in the Presumpscot River. He has assessed the falls, secured permission of property owners and prepared safety equipment for the winter ride.

The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited to watch from Saccarappa Park.

Those wishing to donate to the fundraiser are asked to contact Evelyn Blanchard, executive director of Mission Possible Teen Center, at 854-2800.
