FAIRFIELD — The State Fire Marshal's Office tentatively identified a 55-year-old Fairfield man as the victim of a fatal fire that destroyed his home Friday afternoon.

Steven Edwards died when fire swept his single story house. A positive identification will be made by the State Medical Examiner's Office this week.

Fire investigators say they are still working on pinpointing the cause of the fire and where it started in the house. The fire was discovered by a passerby about 4:45 PM Friday.
