It's time to pull out the shovels - again

By The Associated Press wire report December 13, 2007 09:32 AM

Maine is expected to get snow, then more snow.

The first one hits early Thursday evening in southern Maine, which is on the fringe of a major snowstorm hitting southern New England. The National Weather Service is projecting up to 3 inches of snow across Maine's southern region.

Then there'll be a lull before another snowstorm, a classic Nor'easter, sweeps through Maine Saturday night and Sunday with strong winds and heavy snow.

Meteorologist Jim Mansfield says it already has been a snowy season. Portland has recorded 10.2 inches of snow, which is about 3 inches ahead of normal.
