U.S. Route 202 on the Manchester-Winthrop line has been shut down due to an accident, police officials from Winthrop said.

A dispatcher said the vehicle accident involved only minor injuries, and the road was shut down so law enforcement could assess the scene and treat the victim safely.

Police did not immediately know when the key highway between Augusta and Winthrop would reopen.
