SKOWHEGAN — A teenager's car slammed into a police cruiser Sunday morning on Bigelow Hill Road after the officer pulled to the side of the road to turn and follow him.
Zachery Field, 17, of Norridgewock suffered a minor hand injury in the 10:36 a.m. crash. He was issued a warning for speed by Officer Keith Bigger, who was not injured.
Field was driving east in a 1979 Monte Carlo when he met the cruiser, traveling west, according to Deputy Police Chief Rick Bonneau.
Bonneau said Bigger clocked the Monte Carlo as traveling too fast for the condition of the road and pulled to the right and stopped, planning to turn and follow him and issue a warning.
The Monte Carlo went out of control and the passenger side hit the cruiser’s passenger side, driving the cruiser 10 feet back from where it was stopped, Bonneau said. Field told the officer he was late for work.
