WATERVILLE — City detectives are investigating a burglary and theft of a safe at the Waterville Public Works office on Wentworth Street.

Sgt. Joseph Shepherd said workers discovered the break at about 7:15 a.m. Friday.

Thieves entered through a window and took the safe, which contained an undetermined amount of money.
