Acadia National Park had 5.7 percent more visitors in 2007 than in 2006, a report released by the National Park Service says.
Last year Acadia National Park had 2.2 million visitors, or 120,000 more than the previous year. The largest increases came in June, August and September, but numbers were down in July from 2006.
Park camping in 2007 increased 3.1 percent over 2006 as well, and the number of commercial bus passengers increased 7 percent to nearly 80,000 visitors. The Island Explorer shuttle bus system continued to be popular, with a 6 percent increase in ridership to 351,378 passengers.
