Rachele Burns, a junior at Gorham High School, has been named the 2007-2008 Gatorade Maine Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Burns, a junior midfielder, scored 18 goals and had nine assists, helping the Rams win their third consecutive Class A championship.

Burns is the second Gorham athlete in as many years to win the award, following Kelsey Wilson. Burns is a finalist for the national Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year award, to be announced in May.
