Topsham considers BJ's Wholesale Club

By Portland Press Herald Staff Report February 01, 2008 02:33 PM

Another major national retail chain has set its sights on Topsham and will present its preliminary development plans on Tuesday to the planning board.

BJ's Wholesale Club wants to develop an 85,000-square-foot store at the Topsham Fair Mall where, if approved, it would join chains such as Home Depot, Target and Dick's Sporting Goods.

Also on Tuesday's agenda is a proposal from World Gym to move into existing space at the mall, near Best Buy.

BJ's proposal is at the sketch-plan review level, which means that no final actions are expected, however World Gym's plan will be up for a public hearing and vote.

Tuesday's meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road.
